OBVERSE
And that was why they decided to go off and explore the other side, on which, they hoped, there would be no watery cliffs or dragons awaiting them at the end.
They traversed iotas and iotas. Deserts of iotas and dales of iotas and mountains of iotas. Millions of iotas. Until, finally, once again, they reached a place where there were no more iotas to traverse but another cliff, an earth cliff. And they began to rappel between its cascading crags, which rushed past in more of a rush than they were in to discover what was below. What was below? Long, long roots extending for iotas and iotas from the feet of the trees of the world? A hard, impenetrable rock supporting the world? Flocks flapping their wings continuously to hold up the world?
Vast numbers of explorers were lost in a descent that took decades, which are vast accumulations of iotas of time: iotas and iotas of beats. Finally, some reached the bottom of the cliff, their bodies bearing the consequences of such a long deprivation: ever-so-bearded, ever-so-filthy, fingernails ever-so-long, layers of earth covering what were once coats and shirts and skin. And when they arrived they discovered that on the other side there was no need to hold on to the wall and they could plant their feet because the world was also solid, and had light, not eternal darkness, as theyâd believed, and there were also plants and creatures and trees just like on the other side, and even people: people on a day trip sitting around a blanket, who on seeing the explorers had widened their eyes, just a bit at first, barely an iota, and then wider and then inordinately wide, and theyâd shouted in terror: âDragons! Theyâre dragons!â
